Musnad Ahmad 31:453

Waki' narrated to us, from Sharik, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Sa'id, who said: "When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would follow a funeral procession, he would not sit down until it was placed [on the ground]."
