Musnad Ahmad 31:46

Sufyan narrated to us, Ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to me, from his father, who said: Abu Sa'id said to me—and I was in his care—he said to me: "O my son, when you give the Adhan, raise your voice with the Adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'There is nothing that hears it except that it will bear witness for him, neither jinn, nor human, nor stone.'" And he said once: "O my son, when you are in the wilderness, raise your voice with the Adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'No jinn, nor human, nor stone, nor anything hears it except that it will bear witness for him.'" My father said: "Sufyan makes a mistake regarding his name, and the correct [name] is 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah."
