Musnad Ahmad 31:475

'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b and Hajjaj narrated to us, they said: Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'id al-Khudri, from his father, who said: We were detained on the day of the Trench from the prayer until it was after Maghrib, a portion of the night having passed, until we were spared [from the fighting]. That is the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And Allah spared the believers the fighting, and Allah is ever Powerful, Exalted in Might" [Al-Ahzab: 25]. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called for Bilal, so he performed the iqamah for the Dhuhr prayer, and he prayed it, and he performed it well, just as he used to pray it in its time. Then he commanded him, so he performed the iqamah for the 'Asr prayer, and he prayed it, and he performed it well, just as he used to pray it in its time. Then he commanded him, so he performed the iqamah for the Maghrib prayer, and he prayed it likewise. He said: And that was before Allah revealed regarding the prayer of fear: "On foot or riding" [Al-Baqarah: 239].
