Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, Suwayd ibn Najih narrated to us, from Yazid al-Faqir, who said: I said to Abu Sa’id al-Khudri: "Indeed, among us are men who are the most proficient of us in reciting the Quran, the most frequent of us in prayer, the most connected of us in kinship, and the most frequent of us in fasting; yet they have come out against us with their swords." Abu Sa’id said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "A people will emerge who recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass through the religion just as an arrow passes through the game."
