Musnad Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)

مسند أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه

Hadith 31:5

Hushaym narrated to us, Abu Bishr narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa’id, that a man from the Ansar had a need. His family said to him, "Go to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and ask him." So he went to him while he was delivering a sermon, and he was saying: "Whoever seeks to be chaste, Allah will make him chaste; whoever seeks to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient; and whoever asks us while we have something for him, we will give it to him." He said: So he went away and did not ask.

حدثنا هشيم، حدثنا أبو بشر، عن أبي نضرة، عن أبي سعيد، أن رجلا من الأنصار كانت به حاجة، فقال له أهله: ائت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فاسأله فأتاه وهو يخطب، وهو يقول: " من استعف أعفه الله، ومن استغنى أغناه الله، ومن سألنا فوجدنا له أعطيناه " قال: فذهب ولم يسأل
