Musnad Ahmad 31:547

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: While the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was distributing a distribution, Ibn Dhu al-Khuwaysirah al-Tamimi came to him and said: "Be just, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Woe to you! And who would be just if I am not just?" 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you permit me to strike his neck?" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Leave him, for he has companions, one of you would belittle his own prayer compared to their prayer, and his own fasting compared to their fasting. They pass through the religion just as an arrow passes through the game animal. One looks at its feathers and finds nothing in them, then one looks at its shaft and finds nothing in it, then one looks at its binding and finds nothing in it, then one looks at its arrowhead and finds nothing in it; it has preceded the dung and the blood." "Among them is a black man, in one of his hands"—or he said: "in one of his breasts—is like the breast of a woman, or like a piece of flesh that quivers. They will emerge at a time of discord among the people." Then it was revealed concerning them: {And among them are those who criticize you concerning the [distribution of] charities} [al-Tawbah: 58], the verse. Abu Sa'id said: "I bear witness that I heard this from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and I bear witness that 'Ali killed him while I was with him, and the man was brought according to the description that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had described."
