Hajjaj narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, and al-Khuza'i narrated it to us, Layth informed us, Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id narrated to me, from Abu Sa'id, the freed slave of al-Mahri, that he came to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri during the nights of al-Harrah. He sought his counsel regarding leaving Medina, and he complained to him about its prices and the size of his family, and informed him that he had no patience for the hardship of Medina. He said: "Woe to you, I do not command you to do that. I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'No one bears the hardship of Medina and its intensity and then dies, except that I will be an intercessor for him or a witness on the Day of Resurrection, provided he is a Muslim.'"
