Musnad Ahmad 31:609

Hammad al-Khayyat narrated to us, Abd al-Malik al-Ahwal narrated to us, from Sa’id ibn ‘Amr ibn Sulaym, from a man of his people who is called so-and-so ibn Mu’awiyah or Mu’awiyah ibn so-and-so, from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, who said: "The deceased recognizes who washes him, carries him, and lowers him [into the grave]." He said: So I stood up from [being with] Abu Sa’id and went to Ibn ‘Umar and informed him. Then Abu Sa’id passed by, so he [Ibn ‘Umar] said to him: "From whom did you hear this hadith?" He said: "From the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."
