Musnad Ahmad 31:650

Yazid narrated to us, Mas'udi informed us, from Zayd al-'Ammi, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: "A lashing was carried out during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for wine [consumption] with two sandals, forty [times]. Then, when it was the time of Umar, he lashed [the offender] with a whip in place of each sandal."
