Musnad Ahmad 31:753

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Abu Maslamah, who said: I heard Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa‘id, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said: "Indeed, the people of the Fire who are the people of the Fire, they will neither die in it nor live. But it will afflict a people due to their sins—or their errors—until, when they have become charcoal, permission will be granted for intercession. So they will be brought out in groups, and they will be cast upon the rivers of Paradise. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise, pour water upon them.' He said: So they will sprout as a seed sprouts in the silt of a flood."
