Mahbub ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, from Khalid, from Ikrimah, that Ibn Abbas said to him and to his son Ali: "Go to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and listen to his hadith." He said: So we went, and he was in a garden of his. When he saw us, he took his cloak, came to us, and sat down. He began to speak to us until he reached the mention of the building of the mosque. He said: "We used to carry one brick at a time, while Ammar ibn Yasir used to carry two bricks at a time." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw him, so he began to brush the dust off him and said: "O Ammar, will you not carry one brick as your companions carry?" He said: "I desire the reward from Allah." He said: So he began to brush the dust off him and said: "Woe to Ammar, the rebellious faction will kill him. He calls them to Paradise, and they call him to the Fire." He said: So Ammar began to say: "I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from the tribulations."
