Hadith 31:870
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, and Hajjaj narrated to me, Shu‘bah narrated to me, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Mutawakkil—Hajjaj said in his narration: I heard Abu al-Mutawakkil—from Abu Sa‘id, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "My brother’s stomach has become loose (i.e., he has diarrhea)." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Give him honey to drink." So he gave him to drink. Then he said: "I gave him to drink, and it only increased his looseness." He said that to him three times. Then he came to him the fourth time, and he said: "Give him honey to drink." He said: "I have given him to drink, and it only increased his looseness." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Allah has spoken the truth, and your brother’s stomach has lied." So he gave him to drink, and he recovered.
