Hadith 31:939
Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, Mujalid ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Abu al-Wadak, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: I said, "By Allah, no leader comes to us but that he is worse than the one before him, and no year comes but that it is worse than the one before it." He said, "Were it not for something I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I would have said what you are saying. But I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Indeed, among your leaders there will be a leader who will scatter wealth in abundance and will not count it out. A man will come to him asking, and he will say: "Take." So the man will spread out his garment, and he will scatter [wealth] into it.'" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spread out a thick outer garment he was wearing, imitating the action of the man, then he gathered its corners together. He said, "Then he takes it and departs."
