Musnad Ahmad 31:97

Isma'il narrated to us, al-Jurayri informed us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id, who said: We had barely conquered Khaybar when we fell upon that vegetable, and we ate from it heavily, and the people were hungry. Then we went to the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smelled the odor. He said: "Whoever has eaten anything of this foul plant, let him not approach us in the mosque." The people said: "It has been forbidden! It has been forbidden!" This reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he said: "O people, it is not for me to forbid what Allah has made lawful, but it is a plant whose odor I dislike."
