Hadith 1137:1
Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Matar bin ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, I heard Hind bint al-Wazza’ that she heard al-Wazza’ saying: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, along with al-Ashajj al-Mundhir bin ‘Amir—or ‘Amir bin al-Mundhir—and they had with them a man who was afflicted [with madness/possession]. When they reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and saw the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, they jumped from their mounts and came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and kissed his hand. Then al-Ashajj dismounted, tied his mount, and brought out his saddlebag and opened it. He took out two white garments from his clothes and put them on. Then he went to their mounts and tied them, then he came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "O Ashajj, you possess two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love: forbearance and deliberation." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, did I acquire them, or did Allah create me with them?" He said: "Rather, Allah created you with them." He said: "Praise be to Allah who created me with two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love." Al-Wazza’ said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a maternal uncle with me who is afflicted, so supplicate to Allah for him." He said: "Where is he? Bring him to me." He said: So I did as al-Ashajj had done; I dressed him in his two garments, then I brought him to him. He [the Prophet] took hold of his cloak and raised it until we saw the whiteness of his armpit, then he struck his back and said: "Get out, enemy of Allah!" He turned his face away, and he was looking with the gaze of a healthy man.
