Hadith 5:1
Abu Ahmad Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabiah, from Zayd ibn Ali, from his father, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood at Arafah and said: "This is the station, and all of Arafah is a station." He departed when the sun had set, and he had Usamah ride behind him. He began to make his camel trot, while the people were striking to the right and left. He would turn to them and say: "Tranquility, O people." Then he came to Jam' (Muzdalifah) and prayed the two prayers with them: Maghrib and Isha. He spent the night there until morning, then he came to Quzah and stood at Quzah, and said: "This is the station, and all of Jam' is a station." Then he traveled until he came to Muhassir, where he stood. He struck his she-camel, and it trotted until it crossed the valley, then he restrained it. He then had al-Fadl ride behind him, and he traveled until he came to the Jamrah and stoned it. Then he came to the place of sacrifice and said: "This is the place of sacrifice, and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice." He said: A young woman from Khath'am asked him for a religious ruling and said: "My father is a very old man who has become senile, and the obligation of Allah regarding Hajj has reached him. Will it suffice if I perform it on his behalf?" He said: "Yes, perform it on behalf of your father." He said: He had turned the neck of al-Fadl, so al-Abbas said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you turn the neck of your cousin?" He said: "I saw a young man and a young woman, and I did not feel secure against Satan regarding them." He said: Then a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I shaved before I sacrificed." He said: "Sacrifice, and there is no harm." Then another came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I performed the circumambulation (Ifadah) before I shaved." He said: "Shave or trim, and there is no harm." Then he came to the House (the Kaaba) and circumambulated it. Then he came to Zamzam and said: "O sons of Abd al-Muttalib, your task of providing water; were it not that the people would overcome you for it, I would have drawn water with it myself."
