Musnad Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA)

مسند علي بن أبي طالب (1) رضي الله عنه

Hadith 5:14

Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id wrote to me, "I wrote to you in my own handwriting and sealed the letter with my seal," mentioning that Al-Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to them, from 'Uqayl, from Al-Zuhri, from 'Ali ibn Al-Husayn, that Al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to him, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came to him and Fatimah at night and said, "Will you not pray?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, our souls are in the hand of Allah; if He wills to awaken us, He will awaken us." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, turned away when I said that to him. Then I heard him, as he was turning away, striking his thigh and saying: "And man is ever, in most things, contentious" (Al-Kahf: 54).

حدثنا عبد الله، قال: كتب إلي قتيبة بن سعيد، كتبت إليك بخطي وختمت الكتاب بخاتمي، يذكر أن الليث بن سعد، حدثهم عن عقيل، عن الزهري، عن علي بن الحسين، أن الحسين بن علي، حدثه عن علي بن أبي طالب، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم طرقه وفاطمة فقال: " ألا تصلون؟ " فقلت: يا رسول الله، إنما أنفسنا بيد الله، فإذا شاء أن يبعثنا بعثنا. وانصرف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حين قلت له ذلك، ثم سمعته وهو مدبر يضرب فخذه، ويقول: {وكان الإنسان أكثر شيء جدلا}
