Hadith 5:309
'A'idh ibn Habib narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Simt narrated to me, from Abu al-Ghurayf, who said: "Water for ablution was brought to 'Ali. He rinsed his mouth and snuffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, and washed his hands and forearms three times each. Then he wiped his head, then he washed his feet." Then he said: "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, perform ablution." Then he recited a portion of the Qur'an, then he said: "This is for one who is not in a state of major ritual impurity (junub). As for the one who is in a state of major ritual impurity, then no, not even a single verse."
