Musnad Ahmad 5:42

Sufyan informed us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from his father, from a man who heard Ali saying: I wanted to propose to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, for his daughter. I said: "I have nothing, so how?" Then I remembered his kindness and his generosity, so I proposed to her to him. He said: "Do you have anything?" I said: "No." He said: "Where is your Hutamiyyah armor which I gave you on such and such a day?" He said: "It is with me." He said: "Then give it to me." He said: So I gave it to him.
