Hadith 5:460
'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Husayn, from 'Umayr ibn Sa'id, from 'Ali, who said: "There is no man upon whom I have carried out a prescribed punishment (hadd) and he died, that I find anything in my soul regarding it, except for alcohol. For if he were to die [from it], I would pay blood money for him, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not establish it [as a fixed hadd]."
