Musnad Ahmad 5:48

Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash narrated to us, Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from Shurayh ibn al-Nu'man al-Hamdani, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade sacrificing an animal that is *muqabalah* (one whose ear has been cut from the front), or *mudabarah* (one whose ear has been cut from the back), or *sharqa'* (one whose ear has been slit lengthwise), or *kharqa'* (one whose ear has been pierced with a hole), or *jad'a'* (one whose ear has been cut off)."
