Hadith 5:486
Waki’ narrated to us, Isra’il narrated to us, and ‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Isra’il informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Hayyah al-Wadi’i. ‘Abd al-Razzaq said: From Abu Hayyah, he said: I saw ‘Ali urinate in the open courtyard (al-Rahbah), then he called for water. He performed ablution (wudu’); he washed his palms three times, rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, and washed his forearms three times each. He wiped his head, and washed his feet three times each. Then he stood up and drank from the remainder of his ablution water. Then he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, do as you have seen me do, and I wanted to show it to you."
حدثنا وكيع، حدثنا إسرائيل، وعبد الرزاق، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي حية الوادعي، قال عبد الرزاق: عن أبي حية، قال: رأيت عليا بال في الرحبة ودعا بماء " فتوضأ، فغسل كفيه ثلاثا، ومضمض واستنشق ثلاثا، وغسل وجهه ثلاثا، وغسل ذراعيه ثلاثا ثلاثا ، ومسح برأسه، وغسل قدميه ثلاثا ثلاثا "، ثم قام فشرب من فضل وضوئه، ثم قال: " إني رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فعل كالذي رأيتموني فعلت فأردت أن أريكموه
