'Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Salih al-Hakam ibn Musa narrated to me, Shihab ibn Khirash narrated to us, al-Hajjaj ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Abu Ma'shar, from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, who said: 'Alqamah ibn Qays struck this pulpit and said: 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, delivered a sermon to us upon this pulpit. He praised Allah and extolled Him, and mentioned what Allah willed that he mention. He said: "Indeed, the best of people after the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was Abu Bakr, then 'Umar. Then we introduced occurrences after them, concerning which Allah will judge."
