Musnad Ahmad 5:497

Waki’ narrated to us, from Isra’il and ‘Ali bin Salih, from Abu Ishaq, from Shurayh bin an-Nu’man, from ‘Ali, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to examine the eye and the ear, and not to offer as sacrifice an animal that is *sharqa’* (slit-eared), nor a *kharqa’* (hole-eared), nor a *muqabala* (an animal with the front part of its ear cut), nor a *mudabara* (an animal with the back part of its ear cut)."
