'Abdullah narrated to us, Zakariyya ibn Yahya Zahmuwayh narrated to me, and Muhammad ibn Bakkar narrated to us, and Isma'il Abu Ma'mar and Surayj ibn Yunus narrated to us, they said: Al-Hasan ibn Yazid al-Asamm narrated to us, he said: Abu Ma'mar, the freed slave of Quraysh, said: Al-Suddi informed me—and Zahmuwayh said in his narration: He said: I heard Al-Suddi, from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, from 'Ali, who said: When Abu Talib died, I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "Your elderly uncle has died." He said: "Go and bury him, and do not mention anything regarding his affair until you come to me." So I buried him, then I came to him. He said: "Go and perform ghusl (ritual washing), and do not mention anything until you come to me." So I performed ghusl, then I came to him, and he supplicated for me with supplications that I would not trade for red and black camels. And Ibn Bakkar said in his narration: Al-Suddi said: "And 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, whenever he washed a deceased person, he would perform ghusl."
