'Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, 'Asim ibn Kulayb al-Jarmi informed us, from Abu Burdah ibn Abi Musa, who said: I was sitting with my father when 'Ali came. He stood over us and greeted us, then he commanded Abu Musa regarding some matters of the people. Then 'Ali said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: "Ask Allah for guidance, and by that you mean the guidance of the path, and ask Allah for correctness (sadad), and by that you mean your aiming of the arrow." "And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me from placing my ring in this or this,"—the index finger and the middle finger. He said: He was standing, and I do not know in which of the two [he placed it]. He said: "And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me from the *maytharah* (red saddle cloth) and from the *qasiyyah* (garment)." We said to him: "O Commander of the Faithful, and what is the *maytharah*?" He said: "Something women make for their husbands for their saddles." He said: We said: "And what is the *qasiyyah*?" He said: "Garments that come to us from the direction of Ash-Sham, striped, in them are things like the citron." Abu Burdah said: When I saw the *sabani* (a type of cloth), I knew that it was it.
