Hadith 5:613
'Abdullah narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar al-Qawariri narrated to me, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, Jamil ibn Murrah narrated to us, from Abu al-Wadi', who said: I witnessed 'Ali when the people of al-Nahrawan were killed. He said: "Search for the *mukhdaj* (the malformed one) for me." They searched for him among the slain and said: "We do not find him." He said: "Go back and search, for by Allah, I have not lied, nor have I been lied to." They went back and searched, and he repeated that several times, each time swearing by Allah: "I have not lied, nor have I been lied to." They went and found him beneath the slain in the mud. They brought him out and brought him [to 'Ali]. Abu al-Wadi' said: It is as if I am looking at him—an Abyssinian with a breast like a woman's breast, upon which were hairs like the hairs that are on the tail of a jerboa.
