'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Ibn Shihab narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn 'Ali, from his father, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, who said: 'Ali said: "I obtained a she-camel as my share of the spoils on the day of Badr, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me another she-camel. One day, I made them kneel by the door of a man from the Ansar, intending to load them with idhkhir (a type of grass) to sell it, and I had a goldsmith from Banu Qaynuqa' with me, so that I could seek his help for the wedding feast of Fatimah. Hamzah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib was drinking in that house. Hamzah rushed toward them with a sword, cut off their humps, and slit their flanks, then took from their livers—I said to Ibn Shihab: 'And from the humps?' He said: 'He cut off their humps'—and he went away with them. He said: I looked at a sight that horrified me, so I came to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and Zayd ibn Harithah was with him, and I informed him of the news. He went out, and Zayd was with him. He set off with him and entered upon Hamzah, and he (the Prophet) became angry with him. Hamzah raised his gaze and said: 'Are you anything but slaves to my father?' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) retreated, walking backward until he left them, and that was before the prohibition of alcohol."
