'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from al-Sha'bi, that 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, said to Shuraha: "Perhaps you were coerced? Perhaps your husband came to you? Perhaps..." She said: "No." When she delivered, he flogged her, then he stoned her. It was said to him: "Why did you flog her and then stone her?" He said: "I flogged her by the Book of Allah, and I stoned her by the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." *** 'Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Kamil Fudayl ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd ibn Hisab narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Nu'man ibn Sa'd, from 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The best of you is he who learns the Qur'an and teaches it."
