Hadith 5:778

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ayyash, from Zayd ibn Ali, from his father, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi, from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood at Arafat and said: "This is the station, and all of Arafat is a station." Then he had Usama ride behind him, and he began to make his she-camel trot, while the people were striking their camels to the right and left. He did not turn toward them, and he was saying: "Tranquility, O people." He departed when the sun had set, and he came to Jam' (Muzdalifah) and prayed the two prayers there—meaning Maghrib and Isha—then he spent the night there. When morning came, he stood at Quzah and said: "This is Quzah, and it is the station, and all of Jam' is a station." He said: Then he traveled. When he came to Muhassir, he struck her (the camel), so she trotted until he crossed the valley, then he restrained her. He had al-Fadl ride behind him, then he traveled until he came to the Jamrah and threw pebbles at it. Then he came to the place of sacrifice and said: "This is the place of sacrifice, and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice." Then a young woman from Khath'am came to him and said: "My father is an old man who has become senile, and the obligation of Allah regarding Hajj has reached him. Does it suffice if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes, perform it on behalf of your father." He said: He turned the neck of al-Fadl (away), so al-Abbas said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you turn the neck of your cousin?" He said: "I saw a young man and a young woman, and I feared the devil for them." He said: A man came to him and said: "I performed ifada (tawaf) before I shaved." He said: "Shave or shorten, and there is no harm." He said: He came to Zamzam and said: "O sons of Abd al-Muttalib, your task of providing water; were it not that the people would overcome you for it, I would have drawn water myself."
