Musnad Ahmad 32:1011

Ubaydah narrated to us, from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, consulted [the people] regarding his departure to Badr. Abu Bakr advised him, then he consulted Umar, and Umar advised him. Then he consulted them, and some of the Ansar said: 'It is you whom the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, intends, O assembly of the Ansar.' A speaker of the Ansar said: 'Are you consulting us, O Prophet of Allah? We will not say to you what the Children of Israel said to Musa, peace be upon him: "Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we are sitting right here." Rather, by the One who sent you with the truth, if you were to strike the sides of [the camels] toward Bark'—Ibn Abi Adi said: 'toward Bark al-Ghimad'—we would follow you.'"
