Bahz narrated to us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Thabit, who said: Anas narrated to us, saying: Safiyyah fell to Dihyah in his share of the spoils. They began to praise her to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and they said: "We have not seen the like of her among the captives." He said: So he sent for Dihyah and gave him what he wanted in exchange for her. Then he handed her over to my mother and said: "Prepare her." He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, departed from Khaybar. When he had put it behind his back, he stopped and set up a tent for her. When morning came, he, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Whoever has any surplus provisions, let him bring it to us." He said: Men began to bring surplus dates, surplus barley meal, and surplus ghee, until they made from that a dark-colored *hais* (a mixture of dates, ghee, and curd). They began to eat from that *hais* and drink from pools of rainwater beside them. Anas said: That was the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, for her. We set off, and when we saw the walls of Medina, we became joyful for it and urged our mounts on, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, urged his mount on. He said: Safiyyah was behind him, as he had let her ride behind him. He said: The mount of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stumbled, and he fell and she fell. He said: No one among the people looked at him or at her until the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stood up and covered her. He said: We came to him and he said: "We are not harmed." He said: He entered Medina, and the slave girls of his wives came out to see her and to gloat over her fall.
