Musnad Ahmad 32:109

Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Humayd, and ‘Abdullah ibn Bakr al-Sahmi, narrated to us Humayd, from Thabit, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited a man from the Muslims who had become like a fledgling bird. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "Were you supplicating with something, or asking Him for it?" He said: "Yes. I used to say: 'O Allah, whatever You are going to punish me with in the Hereafter, then hasten it for me in the world.'" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Subhan Allah! You cannot bear it, nor can you endure it. Why did you not say: 'O Allah, give us in this world good, and in the Hereafter good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire'?" He said: "So he supplicated to Allah (the Mighty and Majestic), and Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) healed him."
