Musnad Ahmad 32:1127

Yazid narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fasted continuously (without breaking his fast) at the end of the month, so some of the people also fasted continuously. That reached the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he said: "If the month had been extended for us, I would have continued the continuous fasting to the point that those who go to extremes would abandon their extremism. I am not like you; I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink."
