Musnad Ahmad 32:1180

Mu'adh narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Anas, who said: When Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf arrived as an emigrant, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, established brotherhood between him and Sa'd ibn al-Rabi'. Sa'd said to him: "I have wealth, so half of it is for you, and I have two wives, so look at whichever of them is more pleasing to you so that I may divorce her, and when her waiting period ends, you marry her." Abd al-Rahman said to him: "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. Direct me to the market." He said: He did not return that day until he returned with something he had acquired from the market. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, missed him for a few days, then he came to him, and upon him was the trace of yellow (saffron). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "What is the matter?" He said: "I have married a woman from the Ansar." He said: "What did you give her as a dowry?" He said: "A date-stone's weight of gold," or he said: "The weight of a date-stone of gold." He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Give a wedding feast, even if with a sheep."
