Musnad Ahmad 32:1408

Bishr ibn Shu'ayb ibn Abi Hamzah narrated to us, he said: My father informed me, he said: Muhammad—meaning al-Zuhri—said: Anas ibn Malik informed me, "that he saw on the finger of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a ring of silver for one day. Then the people fashioned rings of silver and wore them. So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, cast away his ring, and the people cast away their rings."
