Hadith 32:1432
Yunus narrated to us, Hammad—meaning Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said: I was the cupbearer for the people on the day wine was prohibited. He said: Abu Talhah had some of his companions gathered with him, and a man came and said: "Behold, wine has been prohibited." He said: Abu Talhah said to me: "Go out and look." He said: So I went out and looked, and I heard a herald calling out: "Behold, wine has been prohibited." He said: So I informed him. He said: "Go and pour it out." He said: So I came and poured it out. He said: Some of them said: "Suhayl ibn Bayda’ has been killed, and it [the wine] is in his stomach." He said: So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed: {There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed} [Al-Ma'idah: 93] to the end of the verse. He said: Their wine on that day was *al-fadikh* (a drink made from) unripe dates and dried dates.
