Musnad Ahmad 32:1631

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit informed us, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: I was riding behind Abu Talhah on the day of Khaybar, and my foot was touching the foot of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. We came to them when the sun had risen, and they had brought out their livestock and gone out with their axes, their baskets, and their spades. They said: "Muhammad and the army!" The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Allah is the Greatest! Khaybar is ruined. Indeed, when we descend into the courtyard of a people, {then evil is the morning of those who were warned} [As-Saffat: 177]." He said: So Allah defeated them. He said: A beautiful slave girl fell into the share of Dihyah. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, purchased her for seven heads [of captives], then handed her over to Umm Sulaym to groom her and prepare her; she was Safiyyah bint Huyayy. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made her wedding feast consist of dates, dried yogurt (aqt), and ghee. He said: He dug small pits in the ground, and leather mats were brought and placed therein, then the dried yogurt, dates, and ghee were brought, and the people ate until they were full. He said: The people said: "We do not know, did he marry her or did he take her as a concubine?" They said: "If he veils her, then she is his wife, and if he does not veil her, then she is a concubine." When he intended to mount, he veiled her until she sat on the rear of the camel, so they knew that he had married her. When they drew near to Medina, he urged [his mount] and we urged [ours]. He said: The she-camel Al-'Adba' stumbled. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, fell, and she fell. He said: He stood up and covered her. He said: The women had looked out and said: "May Allah distance the Jewess." I said: "O Abu Hamzah, did the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, fall?" He said: "Yes, by Allah, he fell." I witnessed the wedding feast of Zaynab bint Jahsh, and he fed the people until they were full with bread and meat. He used to send me to invite the people. When he finished, he stood up and I followed him. Two men remained behind, engrossed in conversation, and did not leave. He began passing by his wives, greeting each one: "Peace be upon you, O people of the house, how have you spent the morning?" They would say: "Well, O Messenger of Allah, how did you find your wife?" He would say: "Well." When he returned and I returned with him, and he reached the door, he found the two men still engrossed in conversation. When they saw that he had returned, they stood up and left. He said: By Allah, I do not know whether I informed him or whether revelation descended upon him that they had left, so he returned, and I returned with him. When he placed his foot on the threshold of the door, he let down the curtain between me and him, and Allah revealed these verses: {Do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without waiting for its readiness} [Al-Ahzab: 53], until he finished them.
