Hadith 32:1798

Husayn narrated to us, in the interpretation of Shayban, from Qatadah, that Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was on one of his journeys, and his rider behind him was Mu'adh ibn Jabal, with nothing between them but the back of the saddle. Then the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." He said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and at your command." Then he traveled for a while, then he said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." He said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and at your command." Then he traveled for a while, then he said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." He said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and at your command." He said: "Do you know what is the right of Allah upon the servants?" He said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, the right of Allah upon the servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." He said: "Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" He said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, their right upon Allah is that He does not punish them."
