Musnad Ahmad 32:1799

Husayn narrated to us, in the interpretation of Shayban, from Qatadah, who said: Anas ibn Malik narrated to us that a man called out to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) on a Friday while he was delivering the sermon to the people in Medina. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, the rain has ceased, the land has become barren, and the people are suffering from drought, so pray to your Lord for rain for us." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) looked toward the sky, and we did not see much cloud. He prayed for rain, and the clouds gathered together. Then it rained until the gutters of Medina flowed, and its paths became like rivers. It continued like that until the following Friday, without ceasing. Then that man, or someone else, stood up while the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was delivering the sermon and said: "O Prophet of Allah, pray to Allah to hold it back from us." The Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed and then said: "O Allah, around us and not upon us." He prayed to his Lord, and the clouds began to break apart over Medina to the right and to the left, raining on what was around it, while not raining anything upon it.
