Musnad Ahmad 32:1877

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thumamah narrated to us, from Anas: "That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had his companions come to him, so he went out to them and prayed with them, and he made it light. Then he entered his house and made it long. Then he went out to them and prayed with them, and he made it light. Then he entered and made it long. When it became morning, they said: 'We came to you last night, O Messenger of Allah, and you prayed with us and made it light, then you entered your house and made it long.' He said: 'I did that because of you.'" Hammad said: Thabit had narrated this hadith to us from Thumamah, so I met Thumamah and asked him.
