Musnad Ahmad 32:2031

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Ishaq ibn 'Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah informed us, from Anas ibn Malik, that Hawazin came on the day of Hunayn with the women, the children, the camels, and the sheep, and they arranged them in rows, to outnumber the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. When they met, the Muslims turned away, retreating, as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said. Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "O servants of Allah, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then he said: "O company of the Ansar, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." He said: So Allah defeated the polytheists, and no sword was struck, and no spear was thrust. He said: And the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said on that day: "Whoever kills a disbeliever, he shall have his spoils." He said: So Abu Talhah killed twenty men that day and took their spoils. And Abu Qatadah said: "O Messenger of Allah, I struck a man on the shoulder-strap, and he was wearing a coat of mail of his, and I was hindered from him"—and Hammad also said: "I was hurried away from him"—"so look at who took it." He said: A man stood up and said: "I took it, so satisfy him with it, and give it to me." And the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would not be asked for anything except that he would give it, or remain silent. He said: So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, remained silent. He said: So 'Umar said: "By Allah, Allah will not take it as booty from one of His lions and give it to you." He said: So the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, laughed and said: "Umar has spoken the truth." And Abu Talhah met Umm Sulaym, and she had a dagger with her. Abu Talhah said: "What is this with you?" She said: "I intended that if any of the polytheists drew near to me, I would rip open his belly with it." He said: So Abu Talhah said: "Do you not hear what Umm Sulaym is saying?" She said: "O Messenger of Allah, kill those of the Tulaqa' (those freed at the conquest of Makkah) who are behind us, for they fled from you?" He said: "Allah has sufficed us, and done well, O Umm Sulaym."
