Musnad Ahmad 32:2073

And the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say: "Align your rows, bring them close together, and keep the necks in line. For by Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, I truly see the devil entering through the gaps in the row as if it were a *hadhaf* (a small black sheep)."
