Hadith 32:2114
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit informed us, from Anas: "Abu Talhah used to shoot [arrows] in front of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the day of Uhud, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was behind him, using him as a shield. He was a marksman. Whenever he shot, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would raise his person to see where his arrow landed. Abu Talhah would raise his chest and say: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! Do not let an arrow strike you. My throat is a shield for your throat.' Abu Talhah used to offer himself before the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and say: 'I am strong, O Messenger of Allah, so direct me in your needs and command me as you wish.'"
