Musnad Ahmad 32:2116

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, he said: Thabit informed us, from Anas ibn Malik, he said: When {O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet} [Al-Hujurat: 2] was revealed, he said: Thabit ibn Qays sat in his house, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) missed him. He said to Sa'd ibn Mu'adh: "O Abu 'Amr, what is the matter with Thabit ibn Qays that he is not seen? Is he ill?" He said: I do not know of any illness he has, and he is my neighbor. So Sa'd entered upon him and mentioned to him the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: I have known that I was among the loudest of you in raising my voice above the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and this verse has been revealed, and I have perished as one of the people of the Fire. Sa'd mentioned that to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: "Rather, he is among the people of Paradise."
