Musnad Ahmad 32:2136

Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, he said: Qatadah informed us, from Anas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade *al-wisal* (fasting continuously for days without breaking the fast). It was said to him: "You practice *al-wisal*." He said: "I am not like you; I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink."
