Hadith 32:434
Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas, that it [the verse] was revealed to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, upon his return from al-Hudaybiyyah, while his companions were intermingled with sadness and depression, and they had been prevented from their rites, and they had slaughtered the sacrificial animals at al-Hudaybiyyah: "Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest" [Al-Fath: 1] up to His saying: "a straight path" [Al-Fath: 2]. He said: "Two verses have been revealed to me that are more beloved to me than the entire world." He said: When he recited them, a man said: "Congratulations and pleasantness, O Prophet of Allah! Allah has made clear to you what He will do with you, but what will He do with us?" So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed the verse that follows it: "That He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow" [Al-Fath: 5], until He concluded the verse.
