'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, proposed to the father of a woman from the Ansar on behalf of Julaybib. He said: "Until I consult her mother." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Then yes, if so." He said: The man went to his wife and mentioned that to her. She said: "By Allah, no! Did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, not find anyone except Julaybib, when we have refused him to so-and-so and so-and-so?" He said: The young woman was in her veil listening. She said: "Do you intend to reject the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him? If he has approved him for you, then marry him to him." He said: It was as if she had enlightened her parents, and they said: "You have spoken the truth." Her father went to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "If you have approved of him, then we have approved of him." He said: "I have indeed approved of him." So he married her to him. Then the people of Medina were alarmed, so Julaybib rode out, and they found him killed, and around him were people from the polytheists whom he had killed. Anas said: "I have seen her, and she was one of the most generous widows in Medina."
