Hadith 32:52
Isma'il narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) campaigned against Khaybar. We prayed the morning prayer near it in the darkness of the end of the night. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) mounted, and Abu Talhah mounted, and I was riding behind Abu Talhah. The Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) rode quickly through the alleys of Khaybar, and my knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). The lower garment slipped from the thigh of the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and I could see the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). When he entered the village, he said: "Allah is the Greatest! Khaybar is ruined. Indeed, when we descend into the courtyard of a people, evil is the morning of those who have been warned." He said it three times. He said: The people had gone out to their work, and they said: "Muhammad!" 'Abd al-'Aziz said: And some of our companions said: "And the army." He said: So we took it by force, and the captives were gathered. He said: Dihyah came and said: "O Prophet of Allah, give me a slave girl from the captives." He said: "Go and take a slave girl." He said: So he took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. A man came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, you gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the lady of Qurayzah and Nadir; she is not suitable for anyone but you." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Call him with her." So he brought her. When the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) looked at her, he said: "Take a slave girl from the captives other than her." Then the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) freed her and married her. Thabit said to him: "O Abu Hamzah, what did he give her as a dowry?" He said: "Her own self; he freed her and married her." Until, when he was on the road, Umm Sulaym prepared her and sent her to him at night, and the Prophet became a bridegroom. He said: "Whoever has anything, let him bring it." He spread out a leather mat, and a man began to bring dried yogurt, and a man began to bring dates, and a man began to bring ghee—he said: And I think he mentioned parched barley—he said: So they mixed it into a *hays* (a dish of dates, ghee, and yogurt), and that was the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
