Musnad Ahmad 32:673

Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Hashimi narrated to us, Isma'il informed us, he said: 'Amr ibn Abi 'Amr, the freed slave of al-Muttalib ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Hantab, narrated to me that he heard Anas ibn Malik saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Abu Talhah: "Seek for us a boy from among your boys to serve me." So Abu Talhah went out with me, letting me ride behind him, and I used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) whenever he stopped. I used to hear him frequently saying: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief, and from incapacity and laziness, and from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men." I continued to serve him until we returned from Khaybar, and he returned with Safiyyah bint Huyayy, having acquired her. I used to see him wrap her behind him with a cloak or a garment, then he would let her ride behind him. When we were at al-Sahba', he made *hays* (a dish of dates, ghee, and dried yogurt) on a leather mat, then he sent me and I invited some men, and they ate; that was his wedding feast with her. Then he proceeded until, when Uhud appeared to him, he said: "This is a mountain that loves us and we love it." When he looked upon Medina, he said: "O Allah, I declare sacred what is between its two mountains, just as Ibrahim declared Mecca sacred. O Allah, bless them in their *mudd* and their *sa'*."
